Mindset
I often wonder if we can just change our perspective
how powerful a change we can make
I have a friend who is always happy
She is not always nice or kind
But she takes care of her OWN health by being happy
She burns through friends
and she does exactly what she wants to do
And yet she attracts new friends easily
and moves on
I am not saying that he behavior is right
I am not advocating that we hurt others at our own expense
I am simply saying that she may have ONE
key ingredient that others lack
She truly is in the moment
HER moment
That sounds selfish and cruel
But in many respects she has achieved a goal many of do not
She is happy all of the time
and never lets others affect it
EVER
I have seen her go through a tough divorce
a disenfranchise of her children
three huge moves
and financial changes
But she is always smiling.
At first I thought maybe it was intelligence
But honestly intelligence has not proven to be a large part of happiness
Being a bit simple and directed may be a key to actually being happy
We have all heard the term "the village idiot"
But if the idiot is smiling / kind / and laughing their way through life
While we figure things out and struggle
Who has the answer?
I want to glean from this something that actually helps me through life
I am always kind.
I am always forgiving (even when it is not easy)
I am a loving person
But am I loving enough to myself to protect myself from unhappiness
and focus on only myself?
Probably not for me
but the basic premise within may hold some answers
Remember that no one is ever going to treat you as well as you
EVER
Be your own best friend
Give to others but always keep an eye on giving to yourself
Hold back a little
Do not give it all
I am just learning this
and I am doing it the hard way
I am learning to actually love myself AS MUCH as I love others in my life
I am attempting to save a little.
Having never done this - it becomes a bit surreal
Holding back and not giving it all to my kids?
Saving something actually for me?
Having a bit of security for me?
Unheard of
I think this is the first of installments of evolving into who I must become
to be the person who is just happy.
